about

Doctors of Space is a duo of Dr Martin Weaver (Wicked Lady, Dark) on guitars, bass, drum programming and Dr Space (aka Scott Heller) on synthesizers (Øresund Space Collective, Black Moon Circle). The duo has been producing free for space-psychedelic rock for the past 4 years. These are some of our favourite jams from our studio sessions from 2020. Each jam represents a different side of our improvised musical experiences. All music was improvised and recorded live with no overdubs, except side A, which Martin added a bass line to. The record is pressed in 300 copies on vinyl, 100 on CD (maybe) and also in digital format.

"I like the album. It’s fantastic. In places the avantgarde meets the psychedelia. And in places there are many sound effects leaving an impression of the clever birds of infinity taking off and coming down. Endlessly migrating in search of directions in space and on the outskirts of infinity.

Martin’s guitar work is stunning. Glad I got the chance to hear him this way. Subtle – never overdoing or showing off. Centered in the creation of the music. The guitar he is holding on the cover is a Fender Stratocaster, not a Jackson Guitar. And to my ears there must be some bass guitar also on side 4?

The keyboards on side 1: “The Edge” instantly transported me back to my teens listening to Bowie/Eno’s: “Neuköln”. “The Edge” has a very optimistic and serene sound – achieved by you. Love it!

In this matrix of “Mind surgery” – Thankfully not Brain salad surgery – I was reminded of thousands and thousands of years passed. Endlessly expanding and reflected in the future, witnessed and within a glimpse passing through a position in present time. (Now how should I put this? 🚀).

Also I was reminded that I must pay my respects to the spirit of Syd Barrett, Richard Wright, Miles Davis, Tangle Edge, Judy Dyble, Nico: “The marble index”, Joy Division: “Closer”, Zappa: “Jonestown”, La Monte Young, Ravi Shankar, Irene Papas: ”Odes”, Porcupine Tree: “Voyage 34 – Part 4” and Robert Fripp. They all (among others) contributed to this ever expanding and never ending fantastic journey.

The nerve tissue and painting on the cover is gentle, revealing and beautiful. Deep levels of consciousness crystalizing. The album resonates in and out of time. Daring, drifting, focused, frightening, weightless and real."
