Doctors of Space- Studio Session June 15th 2021

It was supposed to be very hot this day so I left really early, before 8 for the 50min drive to Martin’s home studio. Martin did not sleep at all last night so was very tired and said he felt like a bit of a zombie. Seems there is some problem with recording with all 8 tracks on the Tascam, so we will only use 7!

I had the pretty usual set up of the Nord Lead 2, Novation Ultranova (midi to the Alesis drum machine), modular synth, kaossiclator pad, theremin box and this time the ARP Odyssey with the the KORG SQ-10 sequencer.

We started off with a drone in C jam that was pretty spaced out and then we tried one in F, which Martin said is a difficult key and he had some technical problems on this one. Jam 3 (14 Dead) we tried to repeat the Xond Jam from the last session and that worked out really well. Quite cool stuff. Jam 4, this was probably my fave from the session. Jam 5 martin played his new acoustic guitar. Jam 6 was a bit Tangerine Dream inspired and Jam 7 just rocked. It was a great session over 2hrs of music recorded. Damn fun…. Martin plays some super heavy riffs on these jams..

This particular double album kicks ass and would take a full page but suffice it to say that they are indeed great listeners, know each others strengths and each track here has it's own vibe and direction, only known in the present moment. They open up reality to make sure they are not limited by time as to see if they can achieve some sort of collective orgasmic crescendo. My experience of the album focuses to vague hints of four riders symbol in western culture, culminating in paintings of father and son, both descended to the ultimate reality to where the four riders eventually lead us all. Though most of physical world and life in general may appear as null, there are scarcely summits of space mountains emerging from void. Momentariness of all may be only cause for meanigns and give reason to existence..Remembering Mr. Hofman when spinning this.record. Eetu Pellonpää
