Doctors of Space May 11th, 2021

Martin and I decided it was time to jam again. I left the house with some extra gear today about 8:30. Stopped for 50€ of gas and was listening to the 2nd Goatess record. I love this one. Such a great voice and record. Still have a couple of songs left when I arrived at Martin’s about 930. A mix of sun and clouds and not that warm, perhaps 16C..

I had the Tibetan bowl, space echo and the ARP today with the sequencer. It took me quite a while to set up all the devices, a microhone, the theremin box, etc.. Those last two ran into the space echo. Never used all 10 channels on the mixer before!

Martin had set up some lights and made the room much darker so we could make more interesting videos. Sadly the video camera was left on so the battery was almost dead when we wanted to start the first jam. So we did not film that and charged the battery. We filmed most of the rest. I think we started playing by 10:40 or so.

First jam was the most high energy we had ever tried. I thought it was awesome and Martin was totally on fire. We had the drums in stereo today which sounded better. Martin was a bit too loud in the room today though, as sometimes I had trouble hearing myself. I think we were a bit inspired by listening to Xond on band camp..

We decided that was enough for today and there was some really great stuff. I tried some more repetitive modular and ARP sequences a few times. We will see how that worked. Over all we had a great time and the jams were pretty cool, at least we thought.

When I pack up all my gear, Martin transfers the files to a memory stick and we found out that Jam 1 and 2, there were no files. Fuck.. I was quite bummed as Jam 1 was so amazing. At least it is not totally lost as we always record with the Edirol from the room. Edirol recordings I am quite low today though as Martin was perhaps too loud. Sometimes technology lets you down!
